Please, have a kidney...really.

*Acrylic paint on 5"x7" mini gallery wrapped canvas.

I painted this 'thank you card' for our good friend and wedding photographer Meredith Mascola.

After everything she and her assistant photographer/husband did for us before, during and after our recent wedding, just sending a thank you card would have been an insult.  Hopefully this better captures how grateful we are for everything they did for us.

We love you guys!!!

DIY Alphabet Rocks

Alphabet Rocks made for my niece's 4th birthday.

She's wicked into both the alphabet and rocks
so this seemed like the ideal gift.

You can use 'em to practice your ABC's...

Or spell stuff...
Or...if you're my brother-in-law you'd find out fast that you can also use the rocks to spell horribly inappropriate words that should never be used in mixed company, let alone spelled out in multi-colored kid's toys and then text them to me and giggle.

There are no pictures of those words, sorry.

Instead, here's a great tutorial I found on iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com explaining how to make your own DIY alphabet rocks.  Check out the rest of her blog too, she's got some awesome ideas.

Later Tater!

Dylan's Fenway Park

This is the Fenway mural I did in Dylan's room in Marshfield this weekend.

The scoreboard is painted with chalkboard paint and was left mostly blank (per Dylan's request) so that he can fill in whatever game he wants or just write a loving note to his little sister to politely remind her to scram.  The ads on the jumotron were also personalized and include Spiderman and Darth Vader as a Lego character, two of Dylan's favorite things and a little stick-figure-Dylan with his name under it is up there too.

GO SOX!!

78 days and counting...

Where is my head?!?  I nearly forgot to update the countdown.

Can you imagine what would happen if the countdown wasn't updated?

I don't even want to think about it.

Anywho- here is your taco themed Etsy item of the day:
Organic Baby Hat Taco Thoughts hand screen printed dijon yellow with brown ink
A baby hat with a taco thought bubble on it...that's obviously what most babies are thinking.  The good ones anyway.  You can buy it here from a seller called LEFTright in Michigan.

We're almost there!

Lex's Robot Paintings

These robots were painted for Little Alexander (who will be called Lex in preparation for his eventual conquer of the free world) in Denver.  He's not born yet but when he is I'm sure he's going to be stoked.

Paintings done in acrylic paint on wood and distressed by hand to give them an aged impression.  Each piece comes with a sawtooth hanger on the back, ready to be hung in Little Lex, our future leader's nursery.

More images after the jump...

Super Slamm!

My hilarious Sister made capes and masks for my Niece's 4th birthday party this weekend.

Clearly her dog, Sgt. Slamm, was the perfect model.

81 Days to National Taco Day

81 Days to go until National Taco Day!

This is what I found when I googled "81"- I love it.
I think the water is made of lava because their feet seem
to have burned off.  No big deal.

the Dry Erase Farmer's Market in Real Life

July's second drawing on the Exit sign at my real job is of a local Farmer's Market (which you can hardly read because apparently it's time for new dry erase markers, buy anywho) inspired by a friend of mine (I painted the signs for her wedding, remember?) who recently left her own "real" job and is taking the reigns at a seasonal store in Plymouth, MA that is half farmers market/half ice cream shop, with a hot dog stand and an antique section for good measure and soon to be selling local arts and crafts along with ready made food items.  Got all of that?

Aaaaaand, do you know who'll be making all of the shabby chic, old school Plymouth looking lobster signs and giant ears of corn to decorate/advertise this new-to-her shop?

That's right!  It's me!!  It's all terribly exciting.

I'm hoping to get down there this weekend to get a better idea of what I need to make.  More to come, stay tuned!

Know When to Hold 'Em

I finally gave up on making the thank you cards for my wedding and ordered these adorable cards on Etsy from a shop called Yee Haw!  They have so many cute designs it was really hard to decide what to get.  I settled on the standard 'THANK YOU!' on a post card.  They came with envelopes and a bunch of little extra 'Gracias' & 'Merci' mini cards all printed on an old school letterpress by a human on recycled cardstock.

So so cute!  Now I just have to send them out.  First things first.

I also wandered over to Brookline Booksmith in Coolidge Corner and bought this little gem for my super hero loving niece's upcoming birthday.  It's from a UK company called 'Toasted' which is a blog "showcasing contemporary design and illustration" that also produces a line of cards.  The artwork on the card is titled 'Heros and Villains' by Jack Teagle.

Who also happens to be my new favorite artist:
Awesome-town.

Draw Me A Centaur

Recently I ordered a creepy goat mask from CostumeCraze.com and on the order form I saw a section labeled 'special requests'.

So I wrote, "please draw me a centaur."

And they totally did.  Look at how good these centaurs are too!  Amazing.

Now I have to track down the artists and send them a fruit basket.  Know anyone that works at Costume Craze?

Lobsta Shack

Fonzie (pictured below) & I painted this piece of found wood for a customer with a thick Boston accent and a collection of washed ashore buoys to hang on his shed.  It's been painted, distressed and left un-sealed to allow the sign to weather naturally in the hot New England Summer sun.
How anyone gets anything done without Fonzie's help is beyond me.  Here he is double checking my letter spacing.  What would I do without him?

Little Travelers

In case their name plates haven't already given it away,
this is Rylie (5) and Nolan (3) of Watertown, MA.

This Saturday Rylie & Nolan, along with their parents (& name plates), are packing up the car and moving to Colorado; which is terribly sad as I love them all to pieces.  It is nice, however, to know they're taking a little piece of me with them on their trip to hang in their new home in 'Rado.

Good luck you guys.  I love you so so so so so much!  I miss you already!!

A New Distraction

I made my first Treasury on Etsy yesterday.  I always wondered what all the fuss was about but It's actually harder than it looks.  It's not unlike arranging the perfect bookshelf.  You need just the right objects, in the right colors that coordinate but don't match and just the right pop of color.  I won't tell you how much time I wasted on this but let's just say I could have watched about 3 episodes of Lost in the time it took.

I can see this is going to be a problem.
